Become a Mechanical Engineer
First the student needs to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering with a BE or B Tech degree from college or university or institution that is reputed and recognized. Else, the student can also obtain the certificate to pursue mechanical engineering course by completing the diploma in mechanical engineering. The student also has the option to study further and extend his career through pursuing a master’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering.
Initial requirement to pursue an undergraduate course is to pass in the secondary board exam or a 10+2 with mandatory pass in the subjects that include Match, Physics and Chemistry. On the other hand, the candidate should have passed 10th class for obtaining the diploma in mechanical engineering. It is important that the student has secured minimum 50% marks in the final exams of both the degrees. Another prerequisite is that the students should also pass the entrance examinations conducted by the various universities in order to attain a seat in the college or university desired.
While the degree course of mechanical engineering is completed in a period of four years with a total of eight semesters, the diploma course is completed in three years and comprises of six semesters. After the completion of the degree, the student will attain his or her BE or B Tech in Mechanical Engineering course. In addition to the main curriculum, the student also has the option to decide on his or her desired specialisation course for the degree. The specialisation courses include mechanics, thermodynamics and thermo-science, kinematics, structural analysis, rapid prototyping, mechanics, thermodynamics and thermo-science, computer-aided design and manufacturing, production engineering, turbomachinery and combustion systems, mechatronics and robotics, computational fluid dynamics and acoustics, tribology, nanotechnology and microelectromechanical systems.
